The New York Yankees are set to face the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium. Can the Reds successfully nab a victory against the Yankees?
The Yankees have been performing consistently with a 6-4 record in their last 10 games; they won their last match against the Seattle Mariners.While, the Reds have been struggling with a 2-8 win-loss record in their last 10; their last match with the Cleveland Indians didn’t go so well.
Yankees’ Jordan Montgomery (4.09 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) will be going up against Reds’ Luis Castillo (3.86 ERA, 1.26 WHIP); both of the slated pitchers recently debuted in the MLB.

Yankees’ rookie Montgomery has been performing consistently with a 6-5 record. The southpaw conceded six runs, a homer, and a walk in six innings against the Minnesota Twins in his last match. However, he struck out 50 batters in his last 55 innings. Plus, Montgomery performs better with a 3.77 ERA in his home games.

While Luis Castillo hasn’t been performing well; the rookie currently has a two-game losing streak in a 1-3 win-loss record. He allowed four runs, a dinger, and a walk against the Arizona Diamondbacks in his last game. Despite having less than 10 games, Castillo has conceded a total of 15 runs and seven homers in 29 hits while he struck out 43 batters in 35 innings.

Aaron Judge is currently the Yankees’ best batter; he has an outstanding .310/.434/.649 line and a 1.083 OPS. Judge has contributed four runs, two dingers, and 7 RBI in his last 10 games; he also received nine walks in 35 at-bats. Plus, he plays better at home with an impressive .377/.489/.834 line and 1.324 OPS.

On the other hand, the Reds’ offense is led by Zack Cozart (.318/.404/.707) and Joey Votto (.298/.419/.582). Cozart currently has the highest batting average (.318) in their batting lineup. While Joey Votto has contributed 26 homeruns and 69 RBI for his team; he also has the highest OBP (.419) among the Reds.
The Yankees’ starting pitcher has been performing better than the Reds’. If Castillo can outperform Montgomery then he might be able to give the Reds a nice lead. However, Montgomery currently has more experience versus MLB batters than Castillo.
